Mercedes EQS Electric Sedan 2022 – All you need to know

The EQS is Mercedes-completely Benz’s electric version of their long-running flagship, the S-Class sedan. The automobile, however, is more than simply a zero-emissions version of the classic sedan. It’s a total reinvention of the car, filled with innovative electronics inside and out, and arrives one year after the newest edition of the four-door was introduced.

Mercedes EQS is renowned for its prowess with internal-combustion engines, It is an electric vehicle(EV).

Recently Mercedes announced a dedicated lineup of battery-powered cars and SUVs has been greatly anticipated.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS is the German automaker’s first opportunity to define elegance in the electric era. As you’ll see, the model also makes a powerful statement. This is everything you need to know.

Mercedes EQS: Power and Performance

Mercedes going to launch 2 models the EQS 450+ and the EQS 580 4MATIC. The first sedan has rear-wheel drive and has a single motor, but the second sedan has two motors that deliver power to each of the car’s four wheels.

The capabilities of the two arrangements are vastly different. The entry-level EQS 450+, on the other hand, is no slouch. The single-motor version makes 329 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, which is more than enough for a daily driver but not quite enough to compete with the EQS 580 4MATIC. The two-motor version generates 516 horsepower and 611 ft-lbs of twist.

Those aren’t just good performance numbers. They do, however, pale in contrast to the Lucid Air and Tesla Model S Plaid, both of which produce over 1,000 horsepower, a value formerly reserved for the most extreme supercars. Despite this, the EQS 450+ accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds and has a peak speed of 130 mph.

The EQS 580 4MATIC, on the other hand, can accelerate to 62 mph in only 4.1 seconds, while its peak speed is the same as its single-motor sister. That’s more than enough power for most drivers, especially those who mostly use their automobiles to commute and drive around town.

Mercedes EQS: Battery Range and Charging

The EQS was projected to have a range of more than 400 miles when it debuted earlier this year (and that’s exactly what we were informed on our previous test drive). In the end, the EV failed to live up to its promise, with the EQS 450+ obtaining a range rating of just 350 miles from the EPA and the AWD EQS 580 4MATIC receiving a range rating of only 340 miles. Those stats, by any measure of the imagination, aren’t horrible (especially for the more powerful sedan).

In reality, both models will be among the market’s longest-range electric vehicles. However, Mercedes had great hopes for its EV, so its failure to meet them was both surprising and disappointing.

The EQS has a lithium-ion battery pack with 107.8 kWh of useable capacity, which gives it a still remarkable range. In addition, DC fast charging allows you to charge from 10% to 80% capacity in just 35 minutes. If you don’t have access to a fast charger, a typical Level 2 system will fully charge your EQS in slightly over 11 hours.

That isn’t convenient by any means, but if you use your car mostly for commuting, you’ll probably never get below 50%, so your daily charge will take less time. Imagine plugging in your smartphone before going to bed and waking up with a fully charged battery.

Mercedes EQS: Exterior and Design

It would be a remarkable automobile if the EQS was simply a redesigned S-Class with an electric powertrain. Mercedes, on the other hand, knew that if its flagship EV was to stand out, it required its own distinct appearance. Although the two sedans appear to be from the same family, the EQS has more in common with the 2019 Vision EQS concept.

While it isn’t as futuristic as the dreaming prototype, it has a similar broad stance and curvilinear design, with sweeping lines running from front to rear to make the automobile as aerodynamic as possible. In fact, it’s said to have an aerodynamic coefficient of 0.20, which Mercedes is touting as the new production vehicle benchmark.
