Battrixx strives to be a big player in the electric vehicle and 3-wheeler categories

Battrixx, a developer of advanced lithium-ion battery packs, wants to be a major player in the electric two- and three-wheeler markets. According to a top executive, these factors are driving the expansion of the domestic electric vehicle market.

Dual power electric vehicle smart batteries with 4kwh have been manufactured by Battrixx. These batteries are highly reliable, robust, and safe for Indian driving conditions. Battrixx, Kabra ExtrusionTechnik’s battery division, would raise up to Rs 301 crore for the brand’s expansion. By the end of FY24, the annual battery pack production capacity will have increased from one lakh to seven lakh.

Anand Kabra who is the MD of Kabra stated that  “Electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers have started gaining traction in India, especially in 2021, Our products are made to be technologically advanced, exceedingly safe, and cost-effective, as well as easy to use. This device has the performance and durability to ignite the country’s next generation of e-mobility solutions.”

In 2018, Kabra teamed with a great International company European Technology player to deliver superior lithium-ion battery packs with intelligent battery management systems for electric vehicles and other energy storage applications. In Pune, Battrixx has a leading-edge design, development, and production facility.

“Right now, our focus is on the two-wheeler category, where we are strong, and the three-wheeler segment, which we will add to our product line-up in the second quarter of the next fiscal year,” Anand Kabra, Kabra ExtrusionTechnik’s vice-chairman and managing director, told PTI.

He stated that the company’s goal is to continue to strengthen its position in these two categories. According to the Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles, EV sales in India are forecast to reach one million units by 2022. (SMEV).

According to the SMEV, enterprises sold almost twice as many two-wheelers in 2021 as they did in 2020, with 2,33,971 units sold vs 1,00,736 units. Most of this is due to the purchase of high-speed e-scooters across the country.

Apart from two- and three-wheelers, the light commercial vehicle market will soon be the third driver of economic growth for both the industry and Battrixx, according to Kabra.

“We predict that 6-8 percent of ICE (internal combustion engine) two-wheelers will be converted to EVs, whereas the three-wheeler market has witnessed significant conversion. he said, “Light Commercial vehicles and electric cars (Four-wheelers), on the other hand, will require some more years to fully develop,”

Battrixx can have total annual manufacturing capabilities of almost 2,50,000 units by the end of this fiscal year, up from one lakh packs at present, or about 22,000 each month, according to him.

Battrixx estimates annual production capacity to be around seven lakh units per year by FY24 after this expansion and fundraising, he said. As per Kabra, the business continues to invest in research and development and has established a distinct R&D center that will solely focus on technology investments in the future.
